"Food for Life" Nutrition and Cooking Class - 4/11 thru 5/30

Chelsea Community Hospital, along with The Cancer Project, is offering a free eight-week nutrition and cooking class designed to help participants prevent and survive cancer through proper diet and nutrition. Poetry Roadshow - 4/12

5th Annual Lenten Fish Fry - 4/14

Join the Chelsea Knights of Columbus of St. Mary Church for their annual fish fry (and salad bar) on Fridays during Lent. Held at the church from 5 til 8 p.m. Eat in or take out is available. Easter Egg Hunt - 4/15

Chelsea's annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday morning. The Easter Bunny makes a special appearance at 9:30 a.m. and the hunt begins at 10:00. Small children will search in the courtyard, and older kids on the front lawn. This event is organized by the Kiwanis, and takes place at The United Methodist Retirement Community at 805 W. Middle Street. Be sure to get there early!

Nonviolence in Theory and in Action - 4/15

Workshop with Dr. William Thomson and Charlotte Whitney examining the theory and methods of nonviolence in local and global contexts. Topics include teachings of Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Gene Sharp, and historical situations in which nonviolence has worked. Hands-on focus and small group discussions. Crisis Support Meeting - 4/17

The Chelsea Community Crisis Response Team will sponsor a community meeting for anyone wanting information on the recent deaths of Chelsea Police Chief Riley Scott Sumner and Chelsea Fire Capt. Matt Tuttle or anyone in need of support. The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Chelsea High School auditorium.

Medicare Part D: Where Do We Stand? - 4/17

Join Mary-Ellen Miller, a volunteer with the Michigan Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program, as she explains the new prescription drug plan, the enrollment process and answers your questions. Held at the library from 10 til 11.

Funeral Procession for Chelsea Fire Capt. Matt Tuttle - 4/18

There will be a funeral procession for Chelsea Fire Capt. Matt Tutle following his funeral at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. The procession will head south from Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, turn on Middle to pass the Chelsea Area Fire Department, then onto Grant and South streets, continuing on south M-52/Main St. to old US-12, heading to the Chelsea Fairgrounds. Motorists will be detoured from M-52 in those areas between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The funeral for Chelsea Police Chief Scott Sumner will take place at St. Mary Catholic Church on Thursday, 4/20. More details will follow as we know more.

Public Memorial and Procession for Police Chief Sumner - 4/20

A public memorial service for Police Chief Riley Scott Sumner will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church on Thursday at 2 p.m. The service will be followed by a procession from St. Mary church, heading west on Old-US 12, north on Main St, east on Middle St, past the Police Department, north on McKinley Street, east on Dexter-Chelsea Road, and south on Freer Road to Mount Olivet Cemetery for a public graveside ceremony with full honors.

Relay for Life - 4/29 thru 4/30

Held at Chelsea Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. Sunday, this fun-filled 24-hour event celebrates cancer survivorship and raises money for the American Cancer Society. Ballet Performance of Sleeping Beauty - 4/29 and 4/30

Youth Dance Theatre of Michigan presents their world premiere performance of the classic fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. Chelsea Antique Show - CANCELLED

NOTE: Unfortunately, the Chelsea Antique Show will no longer be taking place. A Fair Board representative informed us that the individual who operated the show decided to cancel the lease at the Chelsea Fairgrounds, citing lack of revenue.

Beginners’ Painting Class - 4/29 thru 6/10
