General Auditions for Purple Rose Theatre - 5/1 and 5/2

The Purple Rose Theatre Company will hold general auditions for roles in their 2006 / 07 season. Actors will perform a one-minute comic monologue and bring a headshot and resume. "Keeping It Together," a play by Bill Hohnke - 5/2 and 5/3

This humorous play is about a brother and sister who get frustrated at the various obstacles of an urban setting. Keeping It Together, written by Bill Hohnke and directed by Eric Hohnke, will be performed by Chelsea High School students at the Chelsea High School auditorium at 7:30 p.m. both nights. Admission is free, and donations for the Chelsea Theatre Guild will be accepted at the door.

Parenting Workshop: Feeding Your 2-5 Year Old - 5/3

This class will give parents the tools to plan snacks and meals for your active child, introduce new foods, and provide fun ways to learn about healthy choices. The annual Memorial Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. It will be led by the Chelsea American Legion, includes Chelsea High School and Beach Middle School marching bands, local scouts and a fly-over by the 107th Fire Squadron of the Michigan Air National Guard. The parade begins downtown on Middle and heads south on Main St., east on Park St., north on East St. and east on Middle St. to the Oak Grove Cemetery. The ceremony includes Rev. Joy Barrett of the First United Methodist Church, guest speaker Bill Schrader - a local veteran who served 30 years in the military, a 21-gun salute and the bands playing our national anthem. River Gallery Art Exhibition: Mignonette Yin Cheng - now thru 5/28

Cheng's work at River Gallery includes oils and watercolors of China, Italy, Ireland, Scotland and England, oil & wax emulsion paintings on linen, collages on paper and linen, and a large collection of work in gouache on paper.
