[Flag Retirement Ceremony 9/23]Playing at the Purple Rose Theatre: Honus and Me (thru 9/2)

This play, adapted from the Dan Gutman novel, is about a Little League player who finds the most valuable baseball card in the world while cleaning an elderly neighbor’s attic. Filled with baseball history, time travel and romance, this story goes to the 1909 World Series between Ty Cobb’s Detroit Tigers and Honus Wagner’s Pittsburgh Pirates and back again. All Breed Dog Show - 9/2 and 9/3

The Livonia Kennel Club is holding an all breed dog show at the Chelsea Fairgrounds. Events include judging, obedience, rally, health clinics, canine good citizen testing, and microchipping.  Nearly 1,200 dogs of over 125 different breeds are expected to be entered. Virtual Mackinac Bridge Walk - 9/4

Put on your walking shoes, grab a friend or two, and start moving! Residents of Chelsea, Dexter, and Manchester are invited to walk up to five miles on Labor Day, hopefully to accumulate 300 total miles – the approximate distance from Chelsea to the other side of the Mackinac Bridge. Discussion Group: Creating the Onscreen Couple (1938-1941) - begins 9/18

The period surrounding World War II was notable for creating couples whose complexities and conflicts contribute to our notion of romance. Participants in this course will discuss classic films including: Bringing Up Baby, Stagecoach, Citizen Kane, and The Big Sleep.
