All that Jazz! Chelsea Explores America's Legacy - 2/4 thru 3/11

The fourth annual Chelsea Reads Together program runs February 4 - March 11 and will explore jazz, the art form that became America's legacy to the world. Kids’ Movie Night: Ice Age: The Meltdown - 2/5

Kids are invited for movie night at the library to see Ice Age: The Meltdown. Characters Diego, Manny, and Sid are back and ready to save the world from the end of the ice age in this 2006 movie. Parenting Class: "I am, too, the boss of you" - begins 2/6

Parenting consultant and family therapist, Dot Tetreault, CSW teaches an 8 week parenting class in which you will learn how to help your child listen and cooperate, how to help your children succeed, how to communicate honestly and effectively, that you are not alone and parenting is hard for everyone, why your child’s development matters and how to gain respect. Free Concert: David Swain Quartet- 2/6

Local jazz luminary David Swain is a veteran reed player and guitarist who has most recently worked with the II-V-I Orchestra. This concert is a being presented as a tribute to Tad Jones, a New Orleans jazz historian who became local when he lived in Chelsea in the weeks following Hurricane Katrina. Jones was a friend of Cranesbill owner Jan Loveland, known internationally for his study of Louis Armstrong's family genealogy. "Jazz is a national treasure and deserves a prominent place in American culture.  I wanted to contribute some element to the mix that would be my tribute to a great friend who taught me much about his hometown's music," Loveland explained. Join a round table discussion with Mary Lou Severin, RN and certified parent educator as we consider the practical parenting of your one year old. Art Song Workshop - begins 2/7

Vocal song has been called a "universal art-form," practiced in almost every corner of the globe at every moment in history. Valentine's Horse Drawn Carriage Rides - 2/9, 2/10, 2/11 and 2/14

What could be more perfect than a horse-drawn carriage ride to share with your Valentine? For a romantic evening, or fun for the whole family, the Common Gentry Carriage Company will be offering carriage rides beginning at the Chelsea Grill and going around the historic neighborhoods of Chelsea. Fused Glass Tiles Class - 2/10

Showcase of Michigan Showchoirs at Chelsea High School - 2/10

Showcase is a family-friendly, incredibly fun night of singing and dancing entertainment featuring guest show choirs from around the state including Chelsea High School's Company C.  This year's show is called "Sentimental Journey" and features swing dance and songs from the World War II era such as "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "Sing, Sing, Sing" and GI Jive.  Held at 7 p.m. at the Chelsea High School Auditorium. Fender Bender Performance - 2/10

This series of classes led by Lester Castellana, discusses the history of music and the people who created, performed, danced to, prayed with, and otherwise just enjoyed it over the years. From Gregorian chant to rock and roll, participants will learn about some wonderful music: its composers, purpose, emotion, and whatever else makes it tick. Intended for both student musicians and music enthusiasts of all ages, this 6-week series of classes is held at the CCA on Wednesdays from 6 til 8 p.m.
