Chelsea Recycle & Free Exchange

Got too much stuff?

Your garage, attic or basement may be piled high with boxes of old clothes, unused gadgets, tools and more. You can't bring yourself to throw it away because... well, it's still perfectly good! And yet the clutter is driving you crazy.

Giving and getting useful items in the Chelsea area

There is a phenomenon across the country known as freecycling, freesharing, e-cycling, regiving, and many other catchy names (see related link below). But the idea is simple. You have an item you don't want, and you use your computer to find someone in your community who can use it.

It's fun to receive useful items that others no longer need! Everything from furniture, books, old paint, packing peanuts, garden supplies... we've seen it all on Chelsea Recycle! The one catch is that everything must be given away with no strings attached, and all items exchanged must be legal and appropriate for all ages.

Does Chelsea have a freecycling group?

Yes! Chelsea's original freecyle group was founded in early 2004. It is now called Chelsea Recycle and Free Exchange. It started as part of "The Freecycle Network," but is now independently run by local volunteers. In 2005, the moderators of the group changed the name so we could keep it local and keep it free. The group still has its originally owners who are area residents, plus nearly 1,000 memberw with more joining every week.
