Chelsea Recycle & Free Exchange
Got too much stuff?
Your garage, attic or basement may be piled high with
boxes of old clothes, unused gadgets, tools and more.
You can't bring yourself to throw it away because... well, it's
still perfectly good! And yet the clutter is driving you crazy.
Giving and getting useful items in the Chelsea area
There is a phenomenon across the country
known as freecycling, freesharing, e-cycling, regiving, and many other
catchy names .
But the idea is simple. You have an item you don't want, and you use
your computer to find someone in your community who can use it. You could
say it's an internet-savvy version of putting it out on the curb.
It's also fun to receive useful
items that others no longer need. Everything from furniture, books, old
paint, packing peanuts, garden supplies... we've seen it all on Chelsea
Recycle! The one catch is that everything must be given away with no
strings attached, and all items exchanged must be legal and appropriate
for all ages.
Cool! Does Chelsea have a freecycling group?
Yes! Chelsea has its own spin-off called Chelsea
Recycle and Free Exchange. It was founded in early 2004 as part
of "The Freecycle Network." In 2005, the owners changed
the name of the group in order to keep the group locally run. The group
has about 800 members, and more join each week.
