Faith In Action
What We Do
Faith In Action is a community funded, faith based assistance and resource
center for those who need a helping hand in the Chelsea and Dexter
school districts. Our goal is to make the quality of living better
for the needy in our community by being the safety net that provides
the services they need and helps them access other available
services. We provide these services to income qualified households:
Emergency food pantry
- Advocacy
- Financial support for utilities and rent
- Free medical equipment closet
- Preschool Scholarship Program
- Back-to-School Backpack and Shoe Program
- Thanksgiving Baskets
- Christmas Adopt-a-Family
- Counseling
- Home meals for special dietary needs
- The FIA clothing room is free
and open
to anyone regardless
of where they live, staffed by volunteers and stocked with donations of clothes,
household items, baby furniture and day old baked goods from the community.
Who Supports Faith In Action?
FIA’s
support comes from the Chelsea United Way, Dexter Area Services Association,
area churches, business and industry, service clubs, Boy and Girl Scouts,
Chelsea Post Office workers, community youth groups and many individual
donors. Support comes in the form of funds, food donations, donations
for our clothing room, and many volunteers.
If you would like to provide tax deductible financial support to FIA,
you can mail us at 603 S. Main St. Chelsea, MI 48118.
If you would like to volunteer, please call Doug Smith at (734) 475-3305.
Do you know of a person or family in need?
At FIA we recognize that no one is immune from occasionally needing
a little extra help. We are committed to extending a helping
hand on behalf of a caring community, as well as ensuring
confidentiality to protect people's privacy.
We can be

respond to their needs.
