We're touring Michigan this summer: What does Chelsea have to offer?

Q: I'm considering touring some of Michigan in August. Can you mail me any info you have on Chelsea especially Chelsea Milling Co. and Chelsea Teddy Bear Co. I'm a Travel Agent and seeking out new places and areas for motorcoach groups.

A: Hi there! I'd be happy to help you gather information for your research. Chelsea is a great place to visit — especially now that the weather is so nice! Whether it's a day trip or a whole summer long vacation, we have plenty to do to keep you busy ... and plenty of nice places to relax and do nothing, if you prefer. :)

Some of our summertime favorites include, the very well known Purple Rose Theatre which was founded by actor Jeff Daniels (who also lives here), the award-winning Common Grill restaurant, many bed and breakfasts, a weekly downtown event with street musicians and performers, SummerFest festival in July, the community fair in August, and a variety of outdoor activities at the largest state park in lower Michigan.

We also have a very charming downtown where visitors can enjoy themselves at a cafe, deli, go shopping for books, antiques, gifts, visit art galleries and plenty more. If visitors choose to stay a while, we also have golf, ice skating, a brand new library, two weekly farmer's markets and of course all the events listed on the Things To Do In Chelsea website, plus easy access to Ann Arbor, Detroit, and the rest of the southern lower Michigan.

We work closely with the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce, so I always refer people to them for printed materials that they can mail out to you. I have copied them on this message, and they will be sure to email you as well.

If you have families on your list of tourists, then they'll certainly be interested in checking out the TreeHouse, which is brand new indoor playground in Chelsea. and it's always nice to visit our Timber Town park as well.
