Pride in Our Downtown Chelsea AreaChelsea's successful downtown area was recently featured in the Ann Arbor News. Our town is a model for what a small city downtown *should* be like. Zou Zou's Featured in A2 NewsSpeaking of successful downtown businesses, one of our hometown favorites, Zou Zou's cafe, was also featured in the Ann Arbor News. I guess it's not just those of us in Chelsea who have figured out that great coffee, delicious pastries, fresh made soup and sandwiches, and a cool, comfy place to hang out can be found in our own backyard. For anyone who might be visiting from out of town, Zou Zou's is located on the corner of Main St. and Middle in downtown Chelsea. You can reach them at
Watering Your Lawn and GardensChelsea adopted a water irrigation ordinance last year (July 2005) to address conservation issues and to help preserve the adequacy of the city's public water supply. The ordinance restricts landscape watering during peak hours and on certain days.
Those who violate the ordinance will be fined $100 for the first offense, $250 for the second and $500 for subsequent violations. (From the City Newsletter) Building a Tree House on Main StreetA cool new place will be opening in Chelsea this summer, called The Chelsea TreeHouse. You may have seen their posters in their location just north of the clock tower, near the Pink Turtle and Gourmet Chocolate Cafe. They will feature cafe-style food for the whole family, Zingerman's coffee and cappuccinos, and best of all -- a 1,200 sq. ft. "ultimate tree house play structure" where both kids and kids-at-heart can climb and play. They are expecting to open late this summer... well, as soon as all the inevitable new business paperwork is processed. Both the Chelsea Standard and Ann Arbor News have printed feature articles on The Chelsea TreeHouse. Read more:
