Like Water Drum and Dance Featured in Ann Arbor Film FestivalThe world premiere of Illymanya - A Story of Guinea Music will be held at the Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor on March 23. The film follows Chelsea's own local drum and dance group Like Water to their teachers in Africa, at a mountain top village in Guinea. Survival, community and tradition all intermingle as the film reveals the natural and artistic climate of a culture, and its devotees. Incredible traditional dance, and amazing drumming and singing are the backdrop to a story of rhythm, beauty and passion. Main St. in Chelsea, Michigan. Check out the antique items, old photos and learn more about our historic town. [Also listed on our Places To Go page] City Manager Steps DownMike Steklac has stepped down from his position as Chelsea City Manager. His letter of resignation was submitted following a closed City Council session. Following is more information about the decision:
Daylight Saving Time Moves in 2007Beginning this year, Daylight Saving Time has officially been moved in order to extend the period by one month. This change is an effort to save energy, and was part of the Energy Bill signed by President Bush in 2005. The dates in 2007 are as follows:

Emerald Ash Borer Tree Grant[from City newsletter] Chelsea has received a $20,000 grant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to assist communities that have been impacted by the Emerald Ash Borer. Starting in the spring, the Department of Public Works will be purchasing approximately 160 trees to plant in various areas around town. The department try to plant trees in the vicinity of ash trees that were removed, however if there are conflicts with utilities or tree spacing, the trees will be planted in a more appropriate location.
